§ 11-27. Required; exceptions.

  • (a)

    Every resident of the county who shall own, or have in his custody or under his control, a motor vehicle, trailer or semitrailer which is operated on the streets, highways or roads within the county shall purchase annually a county license tag for such vehicle.

    (b)

    This section shall not apply to the following:

    (1)

    Any person exempted from payment of a county vehicle license tax by state law.

    (2)

    Farm trailers and farm wagons.

    (3)

    A one- or two-wheel trailer not exceeding fifteen hundred (1,500) pounds, including its load, in weight and of a width not greater than the width of the motor vehicle to which it is attached at any time of operation. To qualify for this exemption, such trailer, when operated on a highway, must be attached to a motor vehicle owned by the owner of the trailer and must be used for carrying property belonging to such owner or members of his family.
