§ 11-101. Disposition of unsafe vehicles.

(a)

If, in the opinion of the sheriff, any vehicle impounded under this article is in such unsafe, dilapidated or damaged condition that repair thereof would be impracticable, the sheriff shall have the power, prior to any release, sale or disposition thereof, to declare the vehicle to be unsafe and a nuisance and to condemn it, and thereafter such vehicle shall be sold or disposed of only for the purpose of scrapping and shall not be further operated upon the highways.

(b)

The proceeds from any sale under this section shall be handled as provided in subsection (b) of section 11-100.
