§ 14-4. Registration and service fee.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in the activities of a peddler or solicitor in the county without first registering with the sheriff, obtaining a certificate of registration and paying a service fee of ten dollars ($10.00). Application for such certificate shall be on a form furnished by the sheriff and shall contain the following information:

    (1)

    The name and a personal description of the applicant.

    (2)

    The applicant's address, legal and local.

    (3)

    A brief description of the nature of the business and the goods, wares, merchandise or other property or services to be sold or offered for sale or for which orders are to be solicited.

    (4)

    If the applicant is employed, the name and address of the employer, together with credentials establishing the exact relationship between the registrant and such employer.

    (5)

    The length of time for which the right to peddle or solicit in the county is desired.

    (6)

    If a vehicle is to be used, a description of the same, together with the license number or other means of identification.

    (7)

    The place where the goods or property proposed to be sold, or orders taken for the sale thereof, are manufactured or produced, where such goods or products are located at the time such application is filed and the proposed method of delivery.

    (b)

    The sheriff shall not issue a certificate of registration pursuant to this section until he has conducted a thorough investigation to verify the information shown on the application. The sheriff shall complete such investigation within thirty (30) days from the date the application is filed.
