§ 22-122. Pumping stations.

  • (a)

    Generally. Prior to construction of pumping stations, a building permit shall be obtained. Technical specifications, pump curves, pump cycles and structural and hydraulic design calculations shall be provided with pumping station plans. Specifications shall include a painting schedule and requirements for erosion and sedimentation control procedures.

    Sewage pump stations should be located as far as practicable from present or proposed built-up residential areas, and a hard-surface driveway approved by the county shall be provided. The station's operational components shall be located above, or adequately protected against, the 100-year flood/wave action. The stations shall be designed to remain fully operational during the 25-year flood-wave action.

    Reliability classifications shall be met for all sewage pump stations in accordance with Virginia Department of Environmental Quality Regulations.
