§ 3-19. Security requirements.

  • Whenever the number of patrons in a public dance hall is less than fifty (50), then the public dance hall shall have at least one security worker. Whenever the number of patrons in a public dance hall is at least one hundred (100), then the public dance hall shall have at least three (3) security personnel, no less than one of whom shall be a law-enforcement officer patrolling the establishment. For every two hundred (200) patrons, the public dance hall shall have at least four security personnel, no less than two (2) of whom shall be law-enforcement officers dedicated to maintaining order in and around the public dance hall. For purposes of this section, the term "law-enforcement officer" has the meaning ascribed to that term by Code of Virginia, § 9.1-101. All other security personnel shall be "unarmed security officers" or "armed security officers" as defined by Code of Virginia, § 9.1-138 validly registered with the state department of criminal justice services as required by Code of Virginia, § 9.1-139. The permit holder for the public dance hall shall be responsible for all costs associated with fulfilling the security requirements of this section. The permit holder for the public dance hall shall be responsible for ensuring full compliance with this section.
