§ 4-58. Issuance, composition and contents.

  • (a)

    Upon receipt of a proper application and the prescribed license tax, the county treasurer, or designated agent, shall issue a dog license; provided, that no license shall be issued for any dog unless there is displayed to the treasurer, or designated agent, at the time application for a license is made, a certificate of inoculation or vaccination or satisfactory evidence that such certificate has been obtained, issued for such dog under the provisions of section 4-30 of this chapter which discloses that such dog is currently immune to rabies.

    (b)

    Each dog license shall consist of a license receipt and a metal tag. Such receipt shall have recorded thereon the amount of tax paid, the name and address of the owner or custodian of the dog, the date of payment, the year for which issued, the serial number of the tag, whether the license is for a male or female, whether spayed or neutered, or for a kennel. The treasurer or designated agent shall then deliver the metal license tag or plates provided for herein. The metal tag issued hereunder shall be stamped or otherwise permanently marked to show the name of the county and shall bear a serial number.

    (c)

    Information thus received shall be retained by the treasurer, open to public inspection, during the period for which such license is valid.

    (d)

    The treasurer may establish substations in convenient locations in the county and appoint agents for the collection of the license tax and issuance of such licenses. These agents shall deliver the records of such transactions to the treasurer prior to the fifth day of each month.
