§ 8-2. Appointment of a director of public safety.

  • (a)

    The Franklin County Administrator shall appoint a director of public safety to carry out the responsibilities of the department of public safety. The director of public safety shall in turn be responsible to the county administrator. Each of the four (4) divisions shall be responsible to the department of public safety.

    (b)

    Effective upon adoption of this chapter, the current emergency services coordinator shall also become the director of public safety and maintain the position of emergency services coordinator.

    (c)

    When deemed to be necessary by the Franklin County Board of Supervisors, the responsibilities of the emergency services coordinator may be divided from those of the director of public safety and the emergency services coordinator shall be responsible to the director of public safety and shall carry out the responsibilities of the emergency management division of the department of public safety.
